Happy Little Hands classes ran for two fun years during term times on Thursday/Friday mornings in Lindfield, West Sussex.
Sadly, due to other committments, I have decided to stop running classes, so there will be no Autumn term 2008, unless someone takes over! Do contact me if you are interested in this flexible self-employed franchise opportunity - I have a lot of prepared materials, session plans and instruments all ready to be used!
At a Happy Little Hands class we begin with our welcome song and sing a greeting to each child by name. Each week we usually have a theme (e.g. family, home, food, animals, the weather...) and sing along while signing or doing the actions to familiar songs that incorporate useful words. The children get very excited when fluffy friends Ida Duck and Bella Cat join in, or if the "Happy Little House" comes out. The house contains a musical matching game with pictures relating to our theme.
Every week we get out the "clip clop cups" for some basic rhythm exercises that the children love. Then everyone has a great time playing with the instruments and singing along to the guitar. Occasionally we sing a French or Spanish song too.
To let off steam we get up for a few marching and circle songs, with an interlude for a lullaby, but it's soon time for the sleepy bunnies to wake up! We try to make sure there's time to row our boats and catch some bubbles before we finish with a lovely goodbye song. Then the toys come out, and we can have a chat and a snack and drink. Sessions last one hour in all.
