Why all the signing then?
Firstly because it's great fun! Babies and toddlers love it. It's just a natural extension of the gestures they make when learning to talk. When they are able to make themselves understood more clearly, frustration is reduced all round.
Signing along to songs is an enjoyable, easy way to learn some useful signs together. Signing stimulates eye contact and communication between parent and child, strengthening your bond and boosting their intellectual development! It's also great for their fine motor skills, especially combined with music. Accelerated language skills and a big vocabulary are common in signing babies, but for those who do talk later, it's so useful!
